So We Meet Again...

Personal Life Update #2

It's been a long time since we last chatted. It will have been almost a year... In all fairness, I've been very busy. All that means is that I have more to update you on! So let's get right into it.

Embracing my Ginger Era

If you couldn't tell by the title of this section, I'm no longer a brunette. I'm a ginger!! What exactly is the importance of my telling you this? SO MUCH!! In my family, I can't dye my hair till I am in college, but, mind you, I'm not in college. I got to do this because I was cast in a musical where the character I played was a ginger. Since this character is recognizable for her hair, dying it was a change I knew was going to happen. Who is this mysterious ginger? I'll let you guess. She's a Disney princess, known for her comedic and positive personality...it's Anna!!

I was so excited to play Princess Anna in my high school's production of Frozen, the Broadway Musical! It was my dream to be able to play a princess, and when I heard that was the musical our school was doing, I knew she would be who I was going for. I feel like we have so much in common, which is exactly why I loved playing her. I was basically performing as a royal, ginger version of myself. I had so much fun, and honestly, I met so many amazing new people that I am so glad I get to call my friends. Here are some of my favorite photos from the production.

Some Friendships Might Fade, But Remember Those That Flourish

Speaking of making new friends, I had the opportunity to make tons of new friends this year! Some of those I met were from the musical, fall play, and even student council. I will go into detail about a few events and things I've done this year that led me to meeting those people. Obviously, I already stated that the musical was where I met a lot of people, but the other main ones were from being a counselor at 5th-grade camp, a representative for KLAA, and trying a new AP class where I started out only knowing 1 person.

5th-grade camp was such a key moment of this year for me. It reminded me of how much I want to be a mother, how much I love kids, but also how much I love sleep. We played so many fun games! My favorite of those games was "Predator vs Prey," which was basically a giant game of tag in the woods that taught kids about the food chain. Throughout this trip, I was a cabin leader with another girl named Camila. Through our bus ride and late-night hiking conversations, I realized how alike we are. Our cabin would travel with a boys' cabin to activities. This is where I met Marcus and Eric. Eric has been one of my best friends for years, but this was the first time I met Marcus. He was so kind and really good at making me laugh, which made for a light-hearted trip. I looked forward to any moment I got to spend with all of them. I genuinely had so much fun with this group, and I love how much our friendships have grown at school.

KLAA is most commonly known as an athletic conference in Michigan. BUT it is also a group of public schools that meet together every now and then to discuss student council and student participation at the schools. I won't go too much into it, but it's a way for reps from each school to talk to other reps about things their school does. That way, other schools might be able to incorporate those activities into their campus life. This is where I met lots of inspiring people, but there was specifically one girl I met who I absolutely loved. Lara! She's involved in theater, like me, and from the first conversation, we hit it off. I have her to thank for making me feel so welcomed into the KLAA council. I swear, anytime I would talk to her, I'd be smiling the rest of the day. She had a way of making everyone feel so positive and uplifted by her contagious energy. I hope I can inherit that from her!

AP classes are tough. I mean, that's obvious, but what I'm getting at is that getting through an AP class without having friends in that class is even harder. I started AP Environmental Science knowing only Eric. But in a class of only 16, everyone gets very close. That's where I met 2 more of my (now) closest friends. Aaliyah and Noah. I used to hate that class because of the fact I barely knew anyone, but it grew to become one of my favorite classes because of them. Aaliyah and I are basically the same person. Just about every week, I find out a new thing we have in common. Whether it's our love of highland cows, the color pink, Wicked, or our similar humor, we were destined to be besties. Noah, on the other hand, is very different from me, but that hasn't stopped us from being friends. Our differing music tastes and athletic interests only make conversations even more unique.

Songs on Repeat

Instead of listing every song I can't stop listening to, I thought I would make a playlist instead!! I don't know why, but I've been loving listening to older songs. Especially "Let's Groove", "Something Stupid", and "Break My Stride"! I can't seem to get those out of my head...Then again, I also have some newer songs like "Drop Dead" and "Yamz" on the playlist.
